“You gave me a place to stay, peace of mind and helped me keep my sanity.”  - Evelyn

If you need shelter, you may apply for our emergency housing when you come to the Access Center.  To qualify for our housing programs, we need to verify the information below.  If you qualify for emergency housing, case management is part of the program.  Shelter, dinner and breakfast is provided at no cost to clients.  Children will have access to a tutor on school nights.

– I can prove I am homeless (See the link for more information; a staff member will also inform you about the required paperwork.)

– I am willing to work toward housing and keep case management commitments.

– I can pass a drug and alcohol test today.

– I have identification documents for myself and my children if I have any.

– If I have school-age children, I will commit to having them enrolled in school.

– I have income and can save 80% of it to be used for housing later.

– I do not have a felony on my record.  We do not accept persons with a record of a violent felony in the last five years.

– I am not currently fleeing a domestic violence situation.  If you are in immediate danger, please call the 9-1-1. If you are currently in an abusive relationship and need help, call the YWCA Domestic Violence Hotline: (818) 242-1106. For more information about domestic violence and resources click here.

Please note that our emergency housing program is in a very open environment. Anyone entering the program must be able to get along with other people or will not be permitted to stay.

The Emergency Housing program provides 60-90 days of safe, supportive shelter for families and individuals.  The program has 40 beds, two of which are in a private room for people with special needs.  The program services families of all sizes and does not discriminate based on age.  People with disabilities and service animals are accommodated to every extent possible.  Emergency Housing residents take advantage of Wellness Wednesdays, which feature stress reduction groups, parenting education and individual trauma therapy and counseling.  Additional services include on-site tutoring for school-age children by volunteers from School on Wheels.

Nightly meals are prepared and served by volunteer Guest Chefs.  Click here for more information on how to volunteer as a Guest Chef.
