Thanksgiving Arrives Early in Glendale

PATH Achieve to Host A “Day of Gratitude”

November 2, 2007

(Glendale) – PATH Achieve Glendale will host a “Day of Gratitude” event to thank donors and volunteers for their support in the last year. Festivities will include music by the Glendale Academy Jazz Band, light lunch and a check presentation of $200,000 by Los Angeles County Supervisor, Michael D. Antonovich. The funds will go towards supporting PATH Achieve, Glendale’s largest homeless service agency which serves over 1400 individuals and families annually. Glendale Mayor, Ara Najarian, is expected to be on hand to join the PATH Achieve Board of Directors in accepting the check.

“We deeply appreciate the Supervisor’s attention to the needs of homeless people in Glendale,” says PATH Achieve Executive Director Natalie Profant Komuro, “We are so pleased to have this opportunity to recognize him as well as the many individuals and organizations that have supported us in our first year of operating these important programs in Glendale.”

Other community partners to receive recognition include Cathay Bank, Pacific BMW, RE/MAX Elite, the City of Glendale Community Development and Housing, Whole Foods, Morrison & Foerster, Glendale Community Foundation, Leadership Glendale, the Self-Realization Fellowship, Irshad-Ul-Haque (Stor-It-All), School on Wheels, Bruce & Mary Khouri, and PATH Achieve Outreach Worker Stephan Saengpradap. Also to be recognized are the agency’s “Guest Chefs”, which include more than 30 groups from local businesses, faith organizations and service clubs who each prepare dinner for shelter residents one day each month. PATH Founder, Claire West Orr and former PATH Achieve Executive Director, Maggie Willis will also receive
honors.

ABOUT PATH ACHIEVE GLENDALE:
In 2006, PATH Achieve Glendale formed to assume management of a Glendale homeless service center that had assisted hundreds of homeless families and individuals since 1997.  Now a part of PATH Partners, PATH Achieve continues to be the largest operator of homeless services in Glendale, providing outreach, case management, emergency shelter, transitional and permanent supportive housing. Its emergency shelter is one of only a few in Los Angeles County that accepts single fathers with children as well as families with teenage boys. ABOUT MICHAEL D. ANTONOVICH
Since 1980, Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich has served the two million residents of Los Angeles County’s Fifth Supervisorial District in the San Gabriel, Pomona, San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Antelope Valleys. Throughout his career, the Supervisor has dedicated himself to helping those in need. Working with local communities to address the needs of the homeless, Supervisor Antonovich has initiated vital programs including the Santa Clarita Valley Emergency shelter and supported public private partnerships including the Union Station Foundation, St Joseph’s Manor, Penny Lane and Lutheran Social Services. Due to his efforts, Los Angeles County became the first California county to implement provisions of Laura’s
Law , which provides vital mental health services to homeless people to recover and lead productive lives.
